Load Factor vs Availability

Modified November 22, 2017 | Created November 3, 2017 | Jeff Valair

Advanced load factor and availability concepts come into play when there is either multiple legs or tiers defined.

Load Factor

  • Point in time snapshot of the physical loads
  • Crew uses these numbers to determine weight and balance
  • Is not concerned with the tier of the bookings, just the physical space required
  • Calculated for each leg of the journey

Availability

  • Maximum space available between two bookable points
  • Reservations uses these numbers to determine if a booking is possible
  • Availability is determined through calculations performed onĀ overlapping routes and tier restrictions
